Original painting: "Musk Lorikeet, nesting"

$450.00

Acrylic on stretched canvas (unframed)

40cm (W) x 40cm (H) x 1.5cm (D)

Walking at Plenty gorge I spotted this musk lorikeet busily preparing a nest in the hollow of an old tree. Habitat trees with suitable nesting hollows are often at least a hundred years old. While the musk lorikeet is not currently endangered, such trees are vital to the survival of other species such as the swift parrot.

A musk lorikeet, its blue cap and red cheeks making a striking statement with the bright green of its main plumage, is busily preparing a nest in the hollow of an old tree.
