ARC s!

ARC stands for Advanced Reader Copy. These are offered to readers who would be willing to peruse and review the book before its release date.

Silent Sentinel- the story of a redgum is currently at the printer. In just a few weeks I should receive boxes and boxes of books to store in our spare room, and then the fun begins. Meanwhile, print-on-demand versions of the book, both hardcover and paperback, are waiting in the wings to be released to online book buyers in just a few weeks.

As the author, I am able to acquire print-on demand copies in advance of the release date. This week I ordered twenty paperbacks to offer as ARCs. I posted an invitation on Instagram to apply for a free copy to read and review, thinking I might get one or two nibbles.

Two days later, all twenty books had been claimed by readers from six Australian states and even internationally! As you can imagine, I was rather chuffed!

Packing the ARCs!

It was a great practice run for “selling” through my new website (although no money changed hands this time), and learning the ropes. Running a business from a website is all new territory to me and I’m learning as I go.

For those who missed out on the free paperback, watch this space. They will be available as print-on-demand from online stores soon. Better still - the high-quality, offset-printed books will soon be ready for distribution through this website and direct sales.
